OREA would like to congratulate Doug Ford on becoming the new leader of the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party. We would also like to thank all four candidates for the efforts and dedication to Ontario.
Doug was born and raised in Etobicoke Ontario. Before entering politics, Doug managed Deco Labels and Tags, a label manufacturing company, where he currently serves as a Director. He served as city councillor for Etobicoke North from 2010 to 2014 before running in the 2014 mayoral election. He has also served on the board of Build Toronto and as a director of the Canadian National Exhibition. He and his wife Karla, have four children together.
As a city councillor, Doug fought for lower taxes on home ownership, taking a strong stance against Toronto’s land transfer tax that adds tens of thousands of dollars to the cost of a home. We know that as Leader of the PC Party, he will continue to be an advocate for home ownership.
Heading into the 2018 Ontario Election, OREA will be proposing solutions to make housing more affordable for young families in our province.
We are looking forward to working with Doug, and all political parties, to help thousands of young families who are struggling to achieve the dream of home ownership.
