OREA’s 2013 Political Affairs Conference is less than two weeks away! REALTORS® from across Ontario will descend on our provincial capital to enrich their understanding of provincial politics, nurture their relationships with their MPPs, and gather new knowledge to help them be better advocates at their local boards.
Every year OREA invites high profile speakers to share their valuable experience and insight with our members and this year is no exception. We’re excited to have representation from all parties, including: Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party, Tim Hudak; Leader of the New Democratic Party, Andrea Horwath; and, the Minister of Consumer Services, the Honourable Tracy MacCharles. We will also have an update from Glenda Brindle, Chair of the Real Estate Council of Ontario’s (RECO) Board of Directors; and, Joe Richer, RECO Registrar.
We’re delighted to welcome back some crowd favourites too, including: our political pundit panel with Ezra Levant and Stephen LeDrew; and, an economic and political update from John Wright, Senior Vice President and Managing Director for the Canadian Public Affairs Division of Ipsos Reid.
New this year is the Queen’s Park Insider Panel. This informative panel consisting of Bob Lopinski, Principal at Counsel Public Affairs; Jeff Bangs, Partner at Pathway Group; and, Alex Callahan, senior staff inside Andrea Horwath’s office. They will give delegates tips on navigating government and influencing decision makers.
Once delegates are armed with this insider knowledge, this year’s media panel will give them the scoop on Ontario’s political climate. This year, award-winning broadcast journalist, Robert Fisher will be moderating our panel. We look forward to lively debate between Susanna Kelly, Editor-in-Chief for Ontarionewswatch.com; Robert Benzie, Queen’s Park Bureau Chief for the Toronto Star; and, Christina Blizzard, Queen’s Park Columnist for QMI.
And last but not least, we are pleased to welcome former Ontario Premier, the Honourable David Peterson, to address our closing luncheon. Mr. Peterson has a long and distinguished career in public service and he continues to be a key player in provincial government. Most recently, it was announced that Mr. Peterson would be chairing the Pan American and Parapan American Games Organizing Committee.
OREA looks forward to welcoming all our delegates in Toronto and hopes you will enjoy the conference.
