When I was first invited to speak about online neighbourhood marketing on the OREA EMERGE tour, I didn’t know what to expect. Having been to many training events and conferences in the past, I always felt like there seemed to be a hidden agenda or sales pitch, but this wasn’t the case with EMERGE.
Unlike most of the other conferences or training events in our industry that are hosted by brands or professional trainers, EMERGE is organized by OREA with the goal of helping the individual real estate professional. What I discovered is that EMERGE really is Realtors helping Realtors to learn new skills, make connections and share knowledge and best practices regardless of brand or experience level.
It was really inspiring to have the opportunity to talk to like minded individuals about the importance of developing an online specialty and using landing pages, social media, and video to generate meaningful business results. I hope that EMERGE participants walked away with the confidence to be unique and take a stand online, because this will not only help their individual business but our industry as a whole.
Personally, I learned great deal from EMERGE that I have been able to implement in my business including branding, systemization, online advertising and paperless transactions just to name a few. However, my most important takeaway was not a specific skill, but rather the chance to network with my fellow colleagues and develop relationships that will help me in my career for years to come.
