OREA’s Young Professionals Network (YPN) has continued to grow in its second year. This group, aimed at encouraging people new to real estate to become more involved with their profession, has grown to more than 1,100 members in the past year.
YPN maintains a strong, active social media presence on Facebook and the OREA blog via weekly Tuesday posts written by YPN committee members. On Twitter, follow the hashtag #oreaypn; watch our videos on OREA’s YouTube channel; send an email to: ypn@orea.com; or join the Facebook group and sign up for notices and more information.
This year OREA YPN held six well-attended networking receptions events across the Ontario at the conclusion of OREA’s Emerge conferences. The YPN Chair and committee members continue to attend local YPN events held by member real estate boards. We are extremely proud that our annual YPN event, held in conjunction with OREA conference, has grown from an informal reception to a full day educational conference in under three years.
Part of the committee’s mandate is to facilitate opportunities for involvement in association leadership and encourage participation in the association activities and committees. On this front, I am particularly proud to report that the vast majority of OREA’s YPN Committee members serve on local board committees, their local board of directors including as President and several more are considering running for board leadership in the future including at OREA.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members of the Young Professionals Network Committee for their hard work and dedication to Ontario’s REALTORS®. They include Jennifer Aunger, Sean Cowan, Phil Dorner, Amie Ferris, Kris Gear, Sheldon Goodridge, Sarah Kiraly, Jennifer Kotulak, David Kurt, Einas Makki, Jim Marshall, Valerie Miles, Jacqueline Pennington, Christopher Salmans, Brian Santos, Jay Shearer and Eric Standel.
