If you want to attract more millennials as clients, don’t miss this upcoming event organized by the Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA).
On Thursday, March 12, millennials will be the focus of REGeneration: Preparing for Tomorrow’s Clients. Exciting speakers at this Toronto event will examine the retail habits of people in their teens and 20s, and how you can hone your skills to address the needs of this unique generation of buyers.
Generation Y is generally defined as people born in the 1980s and 1990s, while Generation Z is often described as people born near or after the millennium in the year 2000.
“If you’ve worked in real estate for a long time, you may be baffled by the behaviour and habits those who are much younger,” says Patricia Verge, President-Elect at OREA. “But it’s important to note that these same individuals who embrace social media and instant communication will still need places to live. They are the buyers of today and tomorrow, and so understanding how they think and shop will be a huge advantage for those of us who can adapt our real estate business to meet the needs of younger clients.”
The event will take place at the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel in Toronto and is the closing session of the annual OREA leadership conference.
“Young people are the future of our province, so it’s vital for all of us in this industry to learn more about their needs and preferences,” adds Verge. “This knowledge will enable us to expand our business to millennials and help us to connect with a whole new market.”
The day features two dynamic speakers with sage advice to attract the attention of people in the digital age. Keynote speaker David Eaves will examine how real estate is changing due to new technologies, social media and big data in his talk, “The Next Big Thing in Real Estate.” Keynote speaker David Mead will share a simple but powerful idea called the Golden Circle and discuss how great leaders inspire others through his talk, “Start with Why”.
Other highlights of REGeneration include a look at attitudes towards home ownership from a panel of millennial buyers and an unveiling of recent research on Generation Z and real estate. Topics include Developing Your Personal Brand and Referrals: Your Best Leads. Another panel will look at marketing techniques. An exhibition area of booths will enable you to visit and network with fellow REALTORS® and individuals in related industries. The day will conclude with a networking reception for all attendees. REGeneration is co-sponsored by the OREA YPN (Young Professionals Network). The cost of REGeneration day is $79 plus tax for OREA members and $119 plus tax for non-members.
