Earlier this week, MPP for Leeds-Grenville, Steve Clark, tabled a motion against the MLTT.
The motion stated:
In the opinion of this House, the Government of Ontario should not impose, or help municipalities facilitate the imposition of any new municipal land transfer taxes (MLTT).
In a press conference on November 4th, Mr. Clark indicated that he tabled the motion after the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing and the Minister of Finance declined to rule out the MLTT as a possible revenue tool for municipalities.
