Niagara REALTORS® supported food banks and shelter-based organizations through their well-established charitable fund. In addition, members helped provide housing opportunities for local low income families by contributing $5,000 a year towards various housing projects. The Niagara REALTORS® have also committed to protecting property owners’ rights by providing education courses for members focusing on the rights of home buyers and sellers and taking an active role in OREA’s Home Ownership Matter Campaign.
In 2011, the Niagara Association of REALTORS® contributed to protecting the environment by going ‘paperless.’ It now handles all correspondence by fax which is then converted to e-mail.
Finally, Niagara REALTORS® played an important role in building safer communities by participating in the crime prevention “Realty Watch” program and volunteering their time to the local Salvation Army warehouse.
OREA would also like to recognize the other nominees for the 2011 Quality of Life award. They were the Toronto Real Estate Board, the Windsor-Essex County Real Estate Board and the London St. Thomas Association of Realtors. By adopting the Quality of Life principles, they made their communities better, safer and greener!
