The Ontario Progressive Conservative Party is in the midst of selecting their new leader this spring. There are currently five MPPs vying for the top job including: Lisa MacLeod, MPP for Nepean-Carelton; Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing; Christine Elliott, MPP for Whitby-Oshawa; Monte McNaughton, MPP for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex; and, Patrick Brown, federal MP for Barrie. Over the next few weeks we will be profiling each leadership candidate.
Vic Fedeli was first elected to the Ontario legislature in 2011 and since then he has been a rising star in the PC caucus. Mr. Fedeli has held a number of important portfolios including Energy, and Finance critic portfolios. He has also served as a member on the Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs.
Before entering into a life of provincial politics, Mr. Fedeli enjoyed great success in both the private and public sectors. As an entrepreneur, he founded Fedeli Advertising, a company that was ranked one of the best places to work in Canada. In addition to his impressive career in business, he has also served as the Mayor of North Bay. As a first-time candidate, he was elected with an impressive 75% majority, and was re-elected with another landslide majority in 2006.
OREA wishes Mr. Fedeli all the best in his leadership campaign.
