Ontario’s NEW 26th Premier and his Cabinet

Earlier today Premier Doug Ford was sworn in as Ontario’s 26th Premier and announced his Cabinet.

With just 21 Ministers, this government’s Cabinet is smaller than previous governments. Below is a summary of some key Ministers that will oversee issues that are important to OREA and our members. For a complete list of the Cabinet, click here.

Minister of Finance – MPP Vic Fedeli, Nipissing. In 2003, Vic ran for Mayor of Nipissing and was elected. After serving two terms as Mayor, he was elected as MPP for Nipissing in 2011 and has since served as the Critic for Energy, Finance and Interim Leader.

Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing – MPP Steve Clark, Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes. Steve Clark was elected MPP for Leeds-Grenville in 2010. At the age of 22, he was elected Mayor of the City of Brockville.

Minister of Government and Consumer Services – MPP Todd Smith, Bay of Quinte. Todd Smith was elected to represent Prince Edward-Hastings in 2011. He has served as the Critic for Small Business and Red Tape within the official opposition. In addition, he introduced Bill 104, the Tax Fairness for REALTORS® Act.

Over the coming months, OREA’s government relations team will be arranging meetings with the new Ministers to brief them on our priorities.
