Wow! Is all I have to say. The 2011 OREA Leadership Conference was (in my opinion) a huge success!!
The business day included our Annual General Meeting where changes were made to the voting structure for boards and also changes to the Commercial Council by-laws. Dorothy Mason and I also presented the President/ President Elect report via video and it was a huge hit with the delegates and it highlighted many of our accomplishments through out the year…we had fun putting it together too!
My inaugural ball was a fantastic evening with wonderful camaraderie, great food and excellent entertainment from the Boogie Wonder Band. The dance floor was packed all night and I am so glad everyone had a great time.
Leadership day kicked off with music from the “Travelling Blackbury’s”…special thanks to Dave Bellaire, Brian Walker, Phil Dorner, Christian Allen and Darrin O’Brien for the great music and for livening up the morning. Elizabeth Manley, Olympic Silver medalist gave a heart felt presentation …and then off to the first session with the lively Sunjay Nath – the “10-80-10” principle really rang true!! Dr. Jerry Teplitz helped me figure out my personality type and Jerry Matthews spoke about how times are changing and Associations need to change too!
I was so pleased to see so many board members from across the province attending the OREA Annual Conference! There is so much to learn and we all know knowledge is power. I hope you all enjoyed it and I hope to see you back next year!!
For those of you who would like to share the assembly video (President/President Elect report) with your boards. You may find it in the OREA members only section on the OREA website.
I look forward to a great year working with all of you!!
Barb Sukkau, OREA President
