OREA government relations staff are busy finalizing details for the 2012 OREA Political Affairs Conference (PAC) taking place November 20-22, 2012 at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel in downtown Toronto.
OREA is proud to be moving with the conference full speed even though the Ontario Legislature is not currently sitting. The 2012 PAC will provide local boards/associations with the detailed update on the most pressing REALTOR® issues such as:
- lobbying for an amendment of the Electronic Commerce Act, 2000 to facilitate the use of electronic agreements of purchase and sale;
- fighting for a salesperson’s right to form personal real estate corporations;
- pushing for a province-wide registry for marijuana grow operations and
- working to prevent the spread of municipal land transfer taxes across Ontario. Visit a Government Relations section of OREA’s website to learn more about the issues.
In addition, the PAC agenda is filled with a number of engaging discussions led by high profile speakers. Most notably, the conference will feature a new political pundit panel with Ezra Levant and Stephen LeDrew; a session on how delegates can build a better relationship with their local MPP led by former Health Minister David Caplan and a timely analysis of the American presidential election and what it means for Canada from Globe and Mail’s Konrad Yakabuski.
As usual, PAC delegates will hear from the leaders of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario and the New Democratic Party of Ontario as well as an address by the Honourable Margarett Best, Minister of Consumer Services.
