How does one go from the dental profession to the real estate profession? They enrol in OREA Real Estate College, which is what Balwinder Chouhan did in 2005 when she began her first course – Real Estate as a Professional Career.
The reason for the career switch was an interest in owning her own business. So Balwinder contacted a friend who was in real estate, who told her to contact the College. What impressed her was how the College built her confidence in pursuing a new career, which she attributes to the instructors being experienced and practising REALTORS®.
“The teachers have the experience of being REALTORS®, of being in the real estate market,” she says. “They talk about the prospects, what’s happening, where the options are. This built my confidence.”
Another reason for choosing a career in real estate was because Balwinder loves to help people. “I love to see the smile on their faces at the end when I’m able to pursue their dream house.” In fact, she still keeps in touch with many of the clients she’s dealt with since launching her career, which, she says, was not built overnight.
“Have confidence. Have faith in yourself. It’s going to take time but you will see the success,” Balwinder advises.
