Both the Progressive Conservatives (PC) and the New Democratic Party (NDP) have appointed their shadow cabinets for the upcoming session of parliament. Shadow cabinet positions or critic portfolios are created by opposition parties to keep the government accountable.
Key appointments in the PC caucus include Peter Shurman (Thornhill) as Finance critic, Steve Clark (Leeds—Grenville) as critic for Municipal Affairs and Housing and Jim McDonnell (Stormont–Dundas–South Glengarry) as critic for Consumer Services.
Key appointments in the NDP caucus include Michael Prue (Beaches—East York) as Finance critic, Cindy Forrester (Welland) as critic for Municipal Affairs and Housing and Jagmeet Singh (Bramalea-Gore-Malton) as critic for Consumer Services.
