Last week I was honoured to stand in front of my fellow REALTORS® and colleagues to assume the position of 2011 OREA President. As the youngest female president in the history of OREA, it was a very exciting and humbling time.
One of the themes I discussed during my incoming speech was the importance of member engagement. I believe that associations who successfully engage members and volunteers from all generations will be the associations that succeed in the long term.
That is why, under my leadership, your association will focus on enhancing its social media presence to provide better two-way communication with our members. We must let our members know that we care about what they think and what they need. As your President, I am committed to engaging with you regularly through social media.
That is why I am excited to unveil this brand new OREA blog, an OREA President’s Facebook Page and Twitter account. I encourage you to leave comments on this blog or to connect with me on Facebook or Twitter.
Throughout my presidency I hope you will engage in a dialogue with me on issues that matter most to you as a valued member of our association. I look forward to hearing your thoughts so that we can begin to shape the future of our profession, together.
