The Sudbury by-election to replace MPP Joe Cimino has been called for February 5th. Mr. Cimino resigned his seat late last year citing family reasons for his departure.
This by-election is gearing up to be a tough race. As of writing, four candidates are vying to be Sudbury’s next MPP including: Glenn Thibeault for the Liberals, Paula Peroni for the the PCs, David Robinson for the Greens, and Andrew Oliver running as an independent. The NDP is holding a meeting over the weekend to nominate their candidate for the riding.
While the results of the by-election will not sway the balance of power in a majority parliament, by-elections are often regarded as an indicator of support for the governing party.
